I love this guy, D'Arcy Burke, so freakin' much! One of my oldest, bestest, epic planning, adventure riding, grizzly bear wrestling, sage advice giver, shinobe of singletrack, climb cleanin, camp fire tending, bike fixin, kind hearted, laughter inducing friends. So many adventures have started with staring at the map and wondering if we could make it from 'here to there' in a day. Some days were longer than others but we make it home eventually, whether home is home or a cabin or some hard, cold piece of ground deemed home for the night. Then there are just the regular rides we go on. All trails that I know but you just has a way of linking them all up to make it feel like we are riding in a whole new place every time. I could go on but one of the things I am most greatful for is watching the relationship you have with Sam grow and flourish. It really started when you shared your minty 1970's Fisher-Price trucks, planes and figurines from the special box whenever we'd come over, then the electric train set was dusted off and you built it upstairs and discussed its best parts. I love when Sam calls you up just to chat. The best was watching the two of you climbing up to camel pass last summer and listening to you share your wisdom of the hills while Sam soaked in every word. I feel so lucky that we snuck in another ride in whistler just last month and you could show him the secret lines on Blueberry trail and Emerald Forest. I wish I could have videoed the whole thing just to watch again and again. You are the best godfather a boy could ever have and have laid the foundation with your kindness and wisdom. Thank you for all the fun adventures, laughs, listening and most of all getting whatever weird, crazy thing I was trying to convey with an understanding nod or an "oh erin" and a sideways smile. Love you. Xxx
